Wissahickon trailhead

The wisdahickon trail portion of Fairmount Park is one of my favorite places in Philadelphia. All of the Fairmount Parks system and especially the main park and the Wissahickon, feature ornate stonework dating from the WPA Depression years (fact-check?). They are often made more beautiful by the aura of mystery created from years of neglect; other times, one wishes there were still the will and the wealth of skilled labor available to maintain and do more.

In this gallery, we see the Henry Ave. Bridge from below, downstream on the Wissahickon trail.
