Art After 5: West Philly Orchestra: March 2, 2012

Mar 1, 2012   //   by Robert Monk   //   Events, LOVE Philly  //  No Comments

West Philly Orchestra is like a mix of your Jewish and eastern European traditional (wedding) dance bands, but cool, like, with West Philly traditional punk flavorings. I think it was probably a member (or a fan?) who got me psyched about a similar band from Netherlands, called De Kift — stumbled upon while browsing recent songs from the semi-public iTunes playlist at Satellite Cafe. Anyway, influences are folky — both traditional and modern (punk). Which is to say: they can connect with a room of people and get them dancing. I just hope no one falls off the sides of the Great Stair tomorrow night…
